Interactives and Investigations: A Modern Approach to Journalism
As Modern Scientific matures, we will increasingly immerse the reader with detailed educational interactives to explore the discoveries, key concepts and controversies in science, health and medicine. Through storytelling, multimedia and interactive journalism, we hope to break down the historically tough concepts and clarify the controversies. We hope to increase our capacity to carry out investigations to reveal the truth of the matters that befall us. Whether it’s a coastline full of vulnerable refineries during hurricane season or adverse health outcomes at leading hospitals, we are actively pursuing the means to bring these matters into the light.
At Modern Scientific, we say the following: “If no light exists, may our actions come to bear in the face of such darkness, such that it makes
a hasty retreat whence it came.” This reflects the impetus behind our journalism.
At Modern Scientific, conveying scientific accuracy is built into our coverage. We are here to provide substantive journalism in science, health, and medicine, and painstakingly work to get the details right in the compelling stories we create. Excellent writing is important—but let’s also get the details right the first time. We don’t rush to churn out stories. We hope to tell the more in-depth stories told by the established traditional news organizations. Our attention is squarely placed on substantive, responsible journalism that is painstakingly thought out, fact-checked, edited and proofed.
Thank you for visiting Modern Scientific. We hope that you’ll read, watch, interact and, ultimately, come away with a better understanding about the topics in science, health and medicine that affect all our lives.
